The architectural thesis is the defining moment of an architecture student’s academic journey — the project in which they are given complete creative freedom and complete responsibility, the project that must demonstrate not just technical competence but genuine design thinking. The thesis model is the culmination of that journey — the physical object that will sit at the centre of the jury table, be handled by professors, and be photographed for the student’s portfolio.
AestheticSilai understands architecture students and thesis projects. We work with final year and postgraduate students from architecture schools to produce thesis models that honour the ambition of their design ideas and present them with the clarity and craft quality that academic juries respond to.
We work in the full range of thesis model types:
Concept Models: Early-stage abstract models that communicate the design concept and formal language of the thesis project without committing to specific architectural detail.
Detail Models: Large-scale (1:20 to 1:50) models showing a specific portion of the design in full architectural detail — the section of the building that best represents the thesis’s key spatial or structural ideas.
Site Context Models: 1:200 to 1:500 models showing the complete thesis project in its urban or landscape context.
Section Models: Cut-through models showing the interior spatial sequence of the building — typically the most pedagogically revealing model type for spatial architecture theses.
All models are produced in materials appropriate to the design intention — white study model materials for concept-focused presentations, more detailed mixed-material models for technically ambitious theses.
